The Little Friends of Rittenhouse Square (LFRS) Festival is one of the community’s favorite events & brings together hundreds of Philadelphia children and the adults who care for them. It is held on the 3rd Wednesday evening in June under a large tent in the heart of the Square – the same tent that houses the black tie Ball on The Square the next night.
During the LFRS Festival, the center of Rittenhouse Square becomes a carnival, concert & block party all rolled into one. In addition to playing games and having fun, many parents look at this event as a resource to learn more about educational & extra-curricular opportunities for their children. Considered by city children to be a “can’t miss” party, the LFRS Festival marks the unofficial start to summer.
NEW IN 2012
We’re excited to announce a new VIP pre-event from 5:00pm to 5:30 pm. VIP ticket holders will be first in line for rides/amusements and will enjoy special treats and surprises available only during this first half hour.
WHAT YOUR PARTICIPATION MEANS TO US
Funds raised from the LFRS Festival directly benefit Rittenhouse Square, one of the city’s most treasured landmarks.
Friends of Rittenhouse Square is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization established in 1976. Our mission is to preserve, protect and beautify Rittenhouse Square. Most of the constant care required by the Square is provided by the Friends, with limited funding from Philadelphia Parks & Recreation/Fairmount Park. The Friends pay for all the landscaping, doggie bags, sidewalk sweeping, graffiti removal, structural repairs, and the summer park ranger.
The Friends’ initiatives are funded through private donations, fundraising events, corporate sponsorships, and membership.
